  • I see 2 other people in my building that wear masks, one of them sits next to me, the other is the mail guy. Fortunately everyone just knows me as the mask guy and has nothing to say to me about it, i can just exist most of the time.

I understand tho, it’s uncomfortable trying to be comfortable in a way that makes no sense to most people. Today was the first time I flat out told it like it is to someone in my professional life. My new boss wants to have a lunch outing with our small team. I had to flat out tell them that I’m not comfortable with dining indoors and being unmasked in confined spaces with people. It was a huge relief to express that to someone outside of my friends who understand without question.

  • Yeah, obviously that is a very real situation, but to add context, both my wife and I work for places that allow and promote remote work in these situations. My boss says it constantly that anyone who is feeling sick doesn’t need to think twice about it.

You are correct tho, not everyone has that luxury, but the people who have no other option can still wear a mask.

We learned absolutely nothing over the past 4 years, it’s so disheartening.

  • Exactly… it wasn’t until I lived on my own in more culturally diverse areas that I realized how gross it is and made my home a shoes off home.

I’ve also moved towards changing my clothes before getting comfortable in my own house. I don’t want outside clothes on my couch. This is a little unrealistic if you host people, but I still operate like that for myself.
