As if down voting me is going to make the AI problem go away. Lemmy baffles me. People on here are the most pro FOSS but luddites at the same time when it comes to AI.

There is no going back from anyone this. We are gonna have to figure out how to live with the consequences of AI. We should be making a lot more noise about AI to law makers. It’s coming for all of our jobs now matter what sector you work in. At some point people are going to have to accept it and make the best of it.

Except every tool used for development is going to have some level of AI in it and unless you are also building your own AI free tool you aren’t going to know what’s truly AI free. AI is here and the cat’s out of the bag. There is no putting it back in at this point. We as a society need to figure out how to use it ethically.

Id imaging you would be pretty unhappy and would try to overthrow and hope something better would come along. Of course you don’t know what’s gonna fill that power vacuum but you are suffering NOW and want change NOW. Seems pretty logical.

Robert Jordan’s work is some of the easiest to translate to the screen because of how descriptive and long winded he is with world building. They took too many creative liberties in the wrong direction with that show.

IANAL but, just because they abandoned the game doesn’t mean they don’t own the IP. It’s still their IP and unfortunately IP laws everywhere suck ass. IP law only works if you defend your IP. If you don’t defend it then it can weaken IP protection on other IP you own. Even if you don’t actively use the IP you still need to defend it to keep up protection on your other IP.

It’s probably because your computer has quick boot turned on which isn’t actually fully shut off. More like a deep hibernate which can still receive magic packets that can turning it on for updates and such. If it’s a work laptop it’s almost certainly because your work has set up so it wakes up when they push an update. It’s more of an issue with how your work has set up group policies. You can turn off magic packets in advanced network settings if you have admin access to your computer, which you may not if it’s a company laptop.

To be fair Nazis use a lot of covert symbolism specifically to mask what they mean. Like the number 1488. You would have to be terminally online or be a.politics nerd to know that’s a dog whistle.
