You could say the same of any countries reporting. I wouldn’t specifically believe a word from the us, EU or UK without actually verifying it. The fact they are reporting it though shows they believe there is some positive impact. They know somebody will check, and if it’s total bs, it will be shown to be. Interesting to read about, but I will take the numbers and impact with a pinch of salt 👍

What filling up means is that you have 16gb of ram, and if your system tries to use it all, it will freeze, crash and require hard rebooting. I have more than double your ram and have hit oom (out of memory) which is a kernel error. Is your do some research around out of memory and how to mitigate and prevent it in Linux, you’ll find multiple solutions and how to check if it is.
Could be oom? How much ram do you have and is it filling up?
Ive been self hosting for years, have a 24/7/365 web server public facing, with 20+ services hosted, including a Lemmy instance. No formal education, qualification or any actual experience in any way. Never had a single course or anything. I work as a commercial manager on complex and large infrastructure construction and engineering projects.
Honestly dd is perfect. Like you say, shrink the partition down first, DD to the new disc, swap discs. That’s it.
Setup a matrix or xmpp server for the messaging.

I set my Lemmy instance a couple of weeks ago. But hosting isn’t new to me so wasn’t a huge hurdle.
That weather app still takes 5 seconds to load up, even with this new feature! That’s insane! It’s just the weather!
I have a python weather app on my linux desktop using 37mb. 1.6gb seems a tad excessive.
I haven’t tried it yet, but I tested one of their previous ones with CPU interference on an Intel n97, and it was one of the best in terms of t/s performance and also prompt response quality on the metrics I tested against. When this run on llama.cpp I will try and give it a test.

I did the manual install too. You won’t need Plymouth though, boot is too fast on void for it to be any use. Also, I gave up with swaylock and use gtklock instead.
Hi, yeah, I moved from arch Linux to void a while back and not had any real significant issues with Wayland. Although I was on Wayland on arch to. I moved to Wayland 2 years ago in arch, then moved to void 6 months ago. I’ve always been minimal in terms of desktops though. Haven’t run a full de on my main pc in over 10 years. I was openbox on x11, then when I moved to Wayland, tried hyprland for a few weeks before settling on sway. I have had to adapt as x11 is not Wayland. But I haven’t had any breaking issues. I don’t use a DM either.
Been running this hardware setup since July 2025, although a couple of services have been added in that time. All works really well and has minimal maintenance as everything is fully automated with scripts. -
A 30% increase year on year is nothing to be sniffed at. There is substantial growth. I agree it needs to be better and faster, but still, it’s good.
