He didn’t, he stopped calling it anarchism because he got into tto many fights with anarchists(mostly for writing about what he called “lifestyle anarchism”, people who make moves to go off grid and do illegal shit and pretend to be anarchist without doing any meaningful organising and the like). Fundamentally communalism still aligns with anarchist means and goals.

Your proposal seems to be that we should replace the current hierarchical mode of resource ownership(capitalism) with another hierarchical mode of resource ownership(a state). This seems to not resolve the issue of hierarchies, only of the current hierarchy.
