The problem with allowing spaces for fascists to exist online is when they start existing in offline groups too. If discussion was the biggest risk then there would be no harm in letting them participate.
I don’t believe you to be honest. I haven’t seen any hostility towards beehaw admins, or any toxicity whatsoever on the fediverse at all, whether lemmy.world or otherwise. You claim that the only thing you see is people being extremely hostile. So where are they?
You know, I keep hearing this, but it’s beehaw people coming here and starting arguments. If it’s not a problem, then why are people getting annoyed? Beehaw is allowed to defederate if they really think so, but we don’t have to pretend like it’s a smart decision. And, at the end of the day, it only hurts them more than anyone else.
Ahh gotcha I follow you now. thanks again.
I’m a bit confused. is lemmy.world not meant for music? From what I gather lemmy.studio is a different instance which means I have to start a new account to make communities within it?
Sure, there’s no issue with that. I think most people agree that Beehaw can run their instance as they see fit and even understand their intention of trying to keep out trolls. We’re just also saying that it’s not the most efficient way to deal with the problem, and mainly it punishes Beehaw users as far as I can see.
Oh sure thing, my mistake. Thanks for the tip!
On the bright side, at least I have drama content to read. Maybe this thing can replace reddit… lol
I think of instances like nations or countries. Every country has its own citizens, so you are citizen of lemmy world, like me. Every country also has its own communities (subreddits). the difference is you can also go see another countries communities. And like countries in real life, countries here can all have their own culture or flavour. At the moment it seems to be still early days so instance/national identity is still developing. But it has a lot of potential.
Browsing for new content and communities is so much better here. Like, incredibly so. I don’t know if it’s just the lack of repost and karma bots or what but the quality of content is so much higher.
It’s legal in a lot of places, here in NZ I left school at 15 and went to work full time. That was only about 12 years ago now.
My first day here too! I’m still not quite sure how this works. hello from lemmy.world! Lol
