3·5 days agoMunich went open source / Linux a couple of years ago, ditching Microsoft. Using a big budget to convert everything and support employees etc. It was a huge act.
…Then they went back to Microsoft in yet another huge act, using a big budget. And then never revealed the budget for the last one. Which is really weird, considering its public money.
edit: just wanted to say that when idiots get power, there is always a way back. No matter how obviously stupid that would be

…and how would it have benefited you, if the seller had to pay it? They would either increase the price for you or never have made the deal.
Even the thing you expected would have been stupid for you 🤣

good luck out there my friend

161·24 days agoWhat if i stayed, acting like i worked but not really doing anything? Blocking a Nazis spot, taking my salary out of their budget. Maybe even sabotaging. Lets all do that, collectively. Covering eachother by telling how good a job we are doing and so on…

8·1 month agofunny i bought exactly the same CPU and GPU half a year ago. Someone in my city sold these for 200€.
I was going to go for an AM5 board and everything, but couldn’t afford it. My older parts were from 2016 and not even terrible. Its funny how little the hardware requirements have changed in the games and OS area. I am still using the same 16g RAM and PSU from 2016.
even i, the uncreative one, understood that art is about the creating part. How you do it. The finished work can give a hint on what creating might have looked like. If someone spends hours fighting an LLM to get some results, hey that’s art too. Good luck on telling an interesting story though.
No one needs to “LOVE Ai” though. It is generally pretty shitty. Sit back down, Mark!
ah, yes. Not all Bastards are Cops
A couple of peaks of unknown seem to match very nicely with the windows graph, if you invert it. I think the two big windows crashes we see are measuring differences or re-categorization effects. … or how about brand new or discontinued versions of windows, that were not counted as windows yet?

just a reminder that survivorship bias is a huge thing. There have been shitty products from back then too. Many. We just don’t see them now, because only the few good products have survived. The same happens today.
Its not all planned obsolescence and not all obsolescence is bad. Imagine having a 40 year old fridge that doesn’t cool shit and burn 3 times the energy.
2 tips for good quality products now: end capitalism and spend money on the right products (not just convenience) and the right people to repair them.
