I mean, insurance and thus tags might make sense, but inspections? What for? Cars need inspections because an unsafe car is a danger to not just the driver, but everyone around them. An unsafe bicycle is really only a danger to the rider.

I also take a pretty staunch health stance against eating animal proteins just because of factory farming, but if I were to be a refugee living in the woods I wouldn’t be against hunting and killing a small and rapidly reproducing animal like a rabbit to survive (so long as I’m doing everything from the kill to field dressing, etc.). I will avoid it as long as I have other methods to get the nutrition my body needs, though.

From what I’ve heard from other vegans, it would be vegan to eat meat if its necessary for your survival, like you described. This also extends to things like glue - a lot of it is made from animal waste, but its not really feasible to avoid it completely in this society. Sure you could go full commune and do everything yourself, but that’s just not feasible for most people.
