Sometimes I have to set audio to ALSA with protontricks in order for a game to launch or have sound. I think it has something to do with the number of audio channels I have. With other audio interfaces with only two channels it doesn’t seem to be an issue but I thought my ALSA/JACK combo was solid but I also only played native games back then so I’m not sure if it would have been an issue then. Pulse took me a while too be comfortable with but for the most part I’m happy with it now. I held out for so long and waited for other audio producers to give it a green light before I switched.
BTW, I’m not trying to fight you on this. Just sharing my experience with someone who understands the struggle.

I tried this the other day and didn’t make it very far but when I have more free time I’ll get back into it. Really have never played a game with controls like that but it seems like a quality game with some good humour and interesting level design.
If this was a $5 game I’d have bought it.

Matrix - I don’t know of a client that allows audio screenshares which is important when sites keep removing the watchparty features
If you use Element web with a chrome-based browser you can share a tab playing a video from the same browser. I use Helium to connect to matrix and my Jellyfin server to stream movies regularly. Within the last few months they’ve added the ability to adjust stream volume as well.
I’ve never used FL but I’ve seen people mention they’re had success with it on Linux.
This guide looks legit.

When I first started with audio production it was with Audacity. When I realized it wasn’t the best way to record an album I switched to Ardour. It was compared to Pro Tools a lot at the time and I don’t know how similar they are but I loved using it. When I started working with some new people I switched to their preferred DAW, Reaper. Now I basically only use Reaper because it’s easier for some of the people newer to production. Ardour is still amazing and I think you should try them both and see which you like more. Maybe you can get FL working well but I think it’s better to use something that runs native so you can support the orgs that are producing software for Linux and so eliminate some headaches.
I use native plugins as much as possible but sometimes a collaborator will use something meant for Windows and Mac only. What I do is install the plugin with WINE, using default paths, de-selecting any bullshit I don’t care for, and then run a command to sync the plugins, yabridgectl sync. Sometimes plugins don’t work perfectly because of missing fonts or whatever but there’s a lot of advice on the project page for individual plugins. I’ve had pretty good luck so far but currently there’s a rendering issue I’m waiting for an update on. Mouse clicks are offset for some reason. It’s probably fixed by now in the stable version. It’s been a month or two since I’ve checked on it since there are plenty of native and built-in plugins within Reaper.

I wish the headline said he was refused medical and then pronounced dead but I guess it’s good they clarified so we all know he wasn’t just there for the cafeteria or hospital sex dungeon.

Add Bored to Death to that list.

I was in the same position a few years ago. I ended up buying a monosynth and regretting it because I didn’t really know what I wanted out of having a synth except making cool noises and twisting knobs. Eventually I got turned on to VCV Rack and learned about the basic components of synths from Omri and Hainbach while being able to experiment with the modules on my own. If you follow the Omri tutorials you will learn a ton. I’m still learning new things all the time but I can open the software and begin to design new sounds and entire pieces that play themselves.
I already had some music theory education in the form of two years of guitar lessons and having some knowledge of radio technology that overlaps with synths. Modulation and oscillation aren’t exactly hard to grasp so I don’t think my background made it that much easier for me.
You should go for it! I’ll edit this with the specific video I followed.
Edit: I remembered wrong. I watched this series first https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLa9Em_H8Xs_al-r_90xYiuiz-3N8HZyf_
After that I started following along Omri tutorials. I think it was the one mentioned in this short intro video but now its on patreon or something now. Its free thogub ao thats cool. https://youtu.be/eIM8COc_2jw
At that point I went crazy into it, watching every video in his channel that looks interesting. He’s posted so much in the time since I’ve last checked and now I think I’m going to have to dive back in to all that.

I was just thinking about finding an alternative to projects in github or jira. Gonna try this out tomorrow. https://www.openproject.org/collaboration-software-features/

Matrix is more like Skype/Zoom you create a call or session.
That’s true for Matrix with Jitsi. I’m selfhosting with Element Call enabled and we’re using video rooms that you can use as one does on Discord. It’s nice but needs a few more features before I’ll be completely happy with it. For a group to voice chat it’s great. If you’re sharing shows, movies, games, etc then I think it needs the following…
I’ve seen pull requests that address these things so I’m hoping that we see these features soon than later.

Well now I want to know how it does work. Can you post a wall of text about it? I’ll read it.

For real. I’ve provided a matrix instance for people to test to see if it suits their needs and to stress test it to make sure it’s reliable at the scale we need. So far it’s been great for two of us but I’m afraid the rest are all going to join at the same time, the server won’t be able to handle the number of people doing voice and video chats and then they’ll hate the whole thing. Other thing they might do is join the main Matrix instance and see how slow it is. That’s almost worse.
I’m sorry, you didn’t ask for all this info. You said a thing and it made me want to get some stuff off my chest. I almost posted more but deleted it. Then I wrote more and deleted that. I’m just gonna stop now but I feel better now that I’ve typed some things at a stranger on the internet that I agree with. It’s almost like a virtual hug. Hope you felt it too :D
Yeah, I’ve been drinking. It’s Friday somewhere.

do you have any posts or articles that discuss this? I’ve heard this referenced a few times but haven’t seen examples yet. I’ll continue searching but I’d appreciate you can link me to.

I assume there will be a protest there. Does anyone have details on exact location for that? I don’t live in that area so I’m not really in touch with activists there.
That’s what I use to keep my socks from falling down to my ankles.
If you got that big Mac at a taco bell then you are sooooo fucked.
