I was never in any doubt that there would be a season 2. I guess if you aren’t going to announce right away, the next best time would be the 1-year anniversary. Excellent news that it is going to stick with Madhouse. I hope that they are able to bring in a lot of the talent that made the first season what it is.

I had noticed Ruby, but thought the other reflection was of Gorou, but it makes more sense that it is Aqua. What a great adaptation this has been…

Yeah, other than Oshi no Ko, this is probably my favorite of the season.

Just wrapped up this show after binging the last couple episodes and thought it deserved a post for the finale.

I am frankly shocked at how this series ended. Not because there was some big twist or reveal, but that it ended literally in the middle of a boss fight. I can’t think of any other show that has ended its run this way. It is immensely frustrating. I doubt this will be getting a season 2, which just adds to the frustration with the way it ended. Like…seriously?

Well, the finale was nothing flashy, just more fun bopping around the dungeon with Clay and Belle as they explore food and eating in the dungeon (fitting since Clay’s VA also voices Marcille from Delicious in Dungeon). I kind of doubt this show will ever get a season 2, but if it does, I will be there. I ended up enjoying this way more than I thought I would. I would love if we got more info about Clay’s father and/or Belle’s predecessor. @rikka@ani.social

Yeah, this is pretty much what you might expect. They don’t really reinvent the wheel with this series. I have read most of the manga and this matches up with my recollection (I am 200+ chapters in, so it’s been a while since chapter 1). The keen-eyed among you might have gotten a hint of the kind of story it would be in the very beginning of the episode since he is reading Arifureta Vol. 1 when he is at his desk:

I probably won’t stick with this show for the whole season, but had time to check out this first episode to see how the adaptation went. Overall, it was nothing special, but not horrible either. Pretty much what we would expect from a show like this one. @rikka@ani.social

They are almost definitely adapting the manga. I haven’t read the novel, but having read most of the manga and watching the first episode, they match up pretty closely and I don’t remember anything like you describe in the manga. It is a pretty safe, by-the-books isekai.

My personal favorites of hers are the Lycoris Recoil ED and the My Hero Academia ED. My favorite of her non-anime work is Anonymous.

You’re right. When I initially wrote this up, I didn’t yet see it pop up in HiDive for me, so I figured it must be similar to Nokotan from last season. Instead, it seems like it was only delayed a short time instead of a week like I had initially thought. I will edit the comment.

This show has been an incredible mess of a situation from beginning to end. So, I guess it is no surprise that the finale has not resolved anything whatsoever. It is fitting that they are all just wallowing in an indecisive smoothie of misery that is entirely self-made. It is exactly like Naori said:

Honestly, I kind of want nobody to “win” and for them all to just grow up and find other romantic interests in their lives. I mean the professor or this chess senpai both seem to be able to hang with Naori’s quick wit, so why not give it a shot? As things are now, I expect a world of drama and pain in Jun’s future. I looked it up and there is more story to go, but I am not sure I can bring myself to continue this one. So, this will forever remain an unresolved pot of love pasta in my brain.

I think the pretty clear stopping point is going to be up through chapter 80 of the manga (maybe rearranged slightly). I really, really want this show to come back soon. Here’s hoping for an announcement after the finale.

This episode might not have had the visual spectacle that other episodes of this season have had, but it delivered on some powerful story beats. The new B Komachi got their new song and are busy shooting their music videos. It was funny to see Akane fussing over Kana and then not being able to just give her a straight compliment (@rikka@ani.social):

Additionally, we got some Sarina and especially Gorou backstory this episode. For his tragic start to life, and rocky relationship with his grandfather, Gorou ended up accomplishing quite a lot. He went to Tokyo University and became a doctor, no small feat. This is where we also get to see the little keychain thing that Sarina gave to Sensei. In a blink and you miss it change to the ED for the show, there was a small addition to the very end where it shows up again:

Finally, I just like in this story how just as Aqua is starting to come to terms with the fact that he believes his revenge arc is over…we see Ruby’s star begin to darken at the end of this episode.

One more episode to go in this season, but we will have to wait until October 6th for it to release.

I don’t make up the titles, just report 'em. This one definitely cause me a double take. It wasn’t listed on AniList for me to double check the title, so I had to look it up on Mangadex.

Just wrapped up this show and the final episode was very nice. We got to see the two of them relive their romance and share it with everybody they know. I know they were both kind of embarrassed by it, but I think it is nice that their friends didn’t tease them too much.

Yeah, this season has been…not great so far, and I don’t expect it to suddenly turn around for the second cour. It has definitely been a letdown from season 1.

So, we swapped some team members it seems. We also got to see the sadistic side of Rachel a bit more (@rikka@ani.social) though I am happy to see Dan still alive as I liked him. Not sure how he will contribute going forward though.

The story this season is just getting more and more convoluted, so I have kind of stopped trying to follow it too closely and am just strapped in for the ride. I am really hoping that we get to see more Rak in the near future. He said he is going to go expose some turtles, so I expect great things from him. If anything happened to Khun, Rak is going to be devastated at the loss of his infinite chocolate bar supply.

Belle is too strong. Just on another level completely. It all just makes me more curious what went down with her adoptive father when he went through the dungeon because everything we have seen about him makes him seem completely broken as well.

I loved the black uniforms! Very JRPG final boss vibes.
