I don’t know what hexbear is other than another Lemmy instance. But often the comments from hexbear users cause me to frown and get a little disappointed in humanity making me think about blocking hexbear but IDK, still feeling it out and seeing if I get used to it.

Supporting Ukraine against Russian invasion is the right move

too bad the US isn’t “supporting” ukraine, it’s destabilizing ukraine, and it’s been destabilizing ukraine since long before the russian invasion. The right wing ultranationalists in Ukraine aren’t supporting Ukraine. The liberal bourgeoisie in Ukraine aren’t supporting Ukraine. The conservative bourgeoisie in Ukraine aren’t supporting Ukraine. The only people who actually were making life better for the average Ukrainian all had their political parties banned by Poroshenko, and later Zelenskyy. You couldn’t point to Ukraine on a map before February 2022 because you didn’t start paying attention to Ukraine until you were directed to by the American propaganda engine.

I don’t understand. Do you believe the Russians, who are bombing Ukraine civilians shopping in grocery stores, are the good side? Or am I misunderstanding your point?

The Russian federation is a reactionary bourgeois nation. Ukraine is a reactionary bourgeois nation. The United States is a reactionary bourgeois nation. NATO is a reactionary bourgeois military alliance. There are no “good guys” here. It is absurd to even think in these terms. I’m not going to sit here and dispute your claims about Russians bombing Ukrainian civilians shopping in grocery stores. I’m not going to sit here and argue over whether they did it on purpose, or did it by accident, or didn’t do it at all. What’s important is, is that Ukraine and Russia both used to be part of a nation called the USSR, and both Russia and Ukraine were better off when they were part of the USSR. When the USSR stopped existing, when Yugoslavia stopped existing, NATO was overjoyed. NATO loves to send money and weapons to reactionaries, neo nazis, fascists, racists, war criminals, and drug dealers, in order to further destabilize regions, bleed them out, make them easier to loot and privatize later on. NATO loves it when trade unions are banned, when communist and socialist parties are banned, when anarchists are killed, and when reactionary bourgeois parties take power and sell their country’s people out for bribes. The United States government was happy when Yeltsin sold Russia out to American businessmen. The United States government was happy when Poroshenko’s thugs burned Ukrainian civilian alive in a trade union hall in Odessa in 2014. The United States government is always happy whenever reactionaries are killing people because it is an opportunity they can capitalize on. The United States sold weapons to both sides in the Iran-Iraq war in the 80s. The United States doesn’t care how many people get killed, and sending Ukraine weapons isn’t helping Ukrainian civilians, because those weapons aren’t going into the hands of Ukrainian civilians, it’s going into the hands of bloodthristy terrorists, reactionaries, pogromists, drug dealers, fascists, and thugs.

Go read “Killing Hope” by William Blum or “Washington Bullets” by Vijay Prashad, or “The Jakarta Method” by Vincent Bevins, and then get back to me. Stop relying on multi-million dollar television corporations spoon feeding you oversimplified state department narratives.

    • So, in brief, we tend to not care much about civility when it comes to harmful political views. We want Fully Automated Luxury Gay Space Communism (FALGSC for short, in other words Star Trek), and we don’t care if we upset people who work against such things. We’re leftists of all stripes, many of us are neurodivergent and or LGBTQIA+, and we really want a better tomorrow instead of the awful things we’ve been spoon fed. The way our society is organized isn’t natural, and it’s as malleable as we collectively will it to be, we want to change it.

Sounds like my kind of people overall. Maybe the comments I read that made me frown weren’t all that representative of the whole. I too dream of Star Trek style communism.

if you see anything objectionable, just make a post to !chat@hexbear.net and ask about it, or replying with a question about it. it’s usually either an obscure, irony-laden bit or some theory-based position that’s not that hard to justify with sources.
