Depends on the charity. I would certainly expect less than 50%. Aren’t you just a little curious what kind of salaries they are paying out?

The document that you referenced includes an independent audit that said their finances are in accordance with Canadian standards for non-profits.

Hell, the payroll you’re referring to would cover the wages of about eleven people earning a median full-time income. Nothing about this seems outrageous to me.

I have served on multiple non profit boards. That independent audit statement is meaningless. The auditing firm receives the numbers from the non profit, and accepts them without any verification.

I would like to know the qualifications of the people who are managing the properties. From the financials, pretty much 100% of their money is taxpayer money, so I think the public has a right to know. Wouldn’t you like to know how (or how well) the money is being spent?

In general I think it’s good practice for nonprofits to make that information public. This nonprofit doesn’t do that, but I would worry about picking on the little guy by giving them a hard time about it. Because there a lot of bigger, more influential nonprofits that also don’t do this

Considering they are ‘a little guy’ a salary hit of close to 1/2 million is rather shocking. Also, with taxpayer money, accountability and transparency should be paramount.

Don’t misunderstand me, I am not saying the cause is not worthwhile, I just would like to see where the money is going.

Yeah okay, honestly that’s fair enough. Some extra transparency would be useful here

It doesn’t matter which team you’re on, or what you support, accountability and transparency are always in order.
