They’re leftists in what they imagine to be a grand ideological struggle against the right. In this struggle, they want no one to be independent.

I had an argument with my right-wing neighbor the other day. He blamed the left for people on the right becoming Nazis. His argument was that if you were a young impressionable person that was called a Nazi, then you would be more likely to embrace the Nazi tag and roll with it.
My argument was that maybe if you didn’t do Nazi shit in the first place, then people wouldn’t call you a Nazi. He didn’t seem to get my point.
