Windows was the reason I wouldn’t touch any Steam Deck competitors.

Would be excited to see some upmarket Steam Deck competitors that run Linux but I’m not spending my hard earned money on a computer that really belongs to Microsoft.

I heard, a while back, about one planned that would be running Manjaro, but it was a while ago and I haven’t heard anything about it since.

I wonder if the rumored Xbox handheld means that Microsoft might actually develop a controller-friendly shell for Windows? I know a concept leaked a year or so ago, but it sounds like that didn’t go anywhere.

They never even finished updating all the Windows applets for Windows 7/8/10 AFAIK.

Why would it run regular Windows and not Xbox OS, though? Given the manufacturing advancements, Microsoft could take the existing Series S hardware, shrink it, and release an Xbox Series S Mobile.

Tbh I wouldn’t buy one of the windows-running handhelds simply because they’re running windows. Steam deck seems like the clear way forward, to me, and the metrics seem to be pointing in that direction too. It’s steadily gaining popularity.
