I was really hapy for Wil to be included in Prodigy. I felt like Picard S3 snubbed him. Of course, his presence there would have basically made the whole season pointless, but they got everyone back together, including Michelle Forbes, but not him. And Grown Up Traveler Wesley was basically just an in-universe Wil Weaton, my friend and I both kept calling Wes “Wil” instead.

I think that’s probably why they tucked him into season two instead. I’m guessing they wanted him to appear in a way that wouldn’t break the story, and that was easier to do in the time travel caper.
You’re right, though - it was a big missed opportunity to reunite him with the cast, and even the set, of the old show.
Oh, I thought this was a video game based on the screenshot (shows how long I’ve been out of the scene).
I think Wesley would’ve been an amazing character for exploring the downsides of being labeled a gifted child: disliked when young and disappointing when old.
@ValueSubtracted As Prodigy S2 is relatively new, might I suggest placing this content behind a content warning for potential spoilers?
There’s a lot of people out there who are yet to watch this awesome show!
We’re in kind of a shitty situation, but:
-
Our typical spoiler policy is one week from release - in this case, it’s been three.
-
The headline is completely unchanged from the way it appears on the original site - the information is out there in the mainstream, and I don’t think it’s feasible to assume any kind of spoiler protection at this point.
-
The content warning system in Lemmy doesn’t provide a way to differentiate between TV spoilers and, say, hardcore pornography, which is not ideal.
@ValueSubtracted I understand where you’re coming from, and as you said, it’s not an ideal content warning system.
I was pretty quick on board watching S2, so not affected anyway. I just know how some can be with spoilers lol.
LLAP!
All good - it’s an understandably sensitive topic, and I know Lemmy and Mastodon have different implementations of content warning, as well as different cultural norms around them. If we can ever smooth that out we will, but for now we periodically remind Mastodon users that spoilers can be expected when viewing the instance from that platform.
@ValueSubtracted Thanks for the clarification! I think we are all finding our way across the fediverse, and whatever happens, it’s all infinitely better than the alternatives!
