I think most people severely underestimate it, yeah. I was watching an anime with a British friend the other day, and he referred to an untrained civilian whiffing several close range shots with a pistol as “plot armor” on the part of the character being shot at. And I was just like “buddy you have no idea how hard that shit is” lol I almost went into a rant about how I have missed shots at exactly that range against a bigger target while under no stress and bracing the pistol against a solid object
