I have a completely unrelated question. I’m probably late to the party asking this.

Why is his tie so long? My understanding is that the tie should end just above the belt. Not be a fucking scarf.

This pic just seems to make it obvious that it goes past the belt, almost to his pants zipper.

This was considered a “power tie” during an age where large, bulky, oversized formal wear was trendy and signified power.

When was that? The 80s? Because I entered the working world in the 90s and that sure wasn’t true anymore.

That’s how out of touch with 2024 he is, I guess.

Like his illfitting suit and his terrible make-up I’m fairly certain that he is convinced it looks best that way and he only surrounds himself with people that never contradict him for pretty much his entire life.

I like classic menswear a lot and the way Donald Trump dresses clearly give a sense of trying to look powerful.

His tie is way too large and look like it’s made of polyester (the red color is garrish). The shirt is okay but he doesn’t take care of his body so his body doesn’t care about his style.

He never wears a pocket square which demonstrates a kind of utilitarian mindset? “Why accesorize and wear something personal and tasteful?”

Joe Biden feels much less like a power suit and more like how he dresses. He wears suits that fit him and dress for his body type: his clothes work for him and make his silhouette stand out! (It’s a big part of how the shoulder are made on the jacket)

This kinda menswear is pretty beautiful when you master it, it’s just a shame that it’s associated with “power”. It’s more about beauty, craftsmanship, and personality for me than ridiculous formality. It’s also a lasting investment (you don’t buy a sport jacket every 2 months, it’s more like every 5 years) and it will fit you well.

Hope that mentality will shift with time but those conservatives are not helping the suit have the image it deserves.

Slightly irrelevant but does anyone else think his eyes always somehow seem more shut? I wonder how he is able to see through the tiny gap that seems to be left.
