I hope people realise that simulation theory doesn’t actually imply that someone is actively micromanaging the simulation. The point of a simulation kind of is to just let it run and see what happens.

Also when it gets boring, sometimes it can be fun to see what happens if you cause something unusual to happen.

Ok, dinosaurs were fun for a bit, but how do they fare against meteor strikes? Hmm, these small ones keep burning up in the atmosphere. Ok, I bet THIS one won’t burn up! It will probably shake things up quite a bit in this regio–oh shit, debris from the impact is escaping orbit, that probably means it’s going to rain hot rocks for quite some time all over the planet. Dammit, it was cool when all of the land was together in one mass but I’ve cracked that apart now and they are going to end up splitting up into smaller continents now. When’s my last save state? Dammit, it’s mid Triassic, the dinosaurs were so lame back then compared to these ones today. Guess I’ll save now. I mean, they dominate the entire planet, surely they’ll come out of this ok.

Praying to an inactive theoretical being is sort of the whole foundation of religion. If they (super being) ever verifiably acted, it would no longer be a religion, just fact. The unknown nature is what keeps people scared/hooked. This adds a depth to the comic that may not have even been intended (or the author is wicked smart).

      You’re still assuming it’s intentional…

A leaky pipe that slowly forms a stain that looks like the Virgin Mary doesn’t mean something made that simulation of an intentional representation of a religious figure show up.

And regardless of if anyone ever noticed the similarities or even sees it, it’s still there.

The entire universe might just be leaky pipes and if something “bigger” out there looks at the resulting water stain, maybe out of everything they could observe, something would remind them of their existence and they might chuckle.

But it’s very unlikely to be humans just statistically speaking.

Sure but it could also be simsimulation and maybe they can play as us on a grand scale and if so they maybe can tweak the war, dissent, and natural disaster settings down a bit… you know for the sake of recovering from the fun part.

Cuz idk if you ever played simcity and set loose disasters, recovering from them suuuuucked when it got out of hand.
