They just need to sever the ADL’s ties to Israel. It’s hard for me to believe it’s a NY organization when they parrot Netanyahu’s words and sound nothing like the voices of every Jewish New Yorker I’ve met.

fuck the ADL. all my homies hate the ADL. SPLC does more to speak on the jewish identity than the ADL. the ADL once served a valuable purpose, but at this point it has been fully captured by radical nationalists who don’t think jews can live alongside anyone else. there’s a word for that, and i can nazi myself remembering what it is

“Us guys” do not universally support the ADL.

Just like we do not universally support Israel.

Can you guys stop deciding what every Jew supports? I’m getting really fucking tired of both telling people that you’re wrong and being told I’m the wrong one back because of my genetics.

You may be a leader and you may be Jewish, but I interpreted that comment to specifically mean the people in power who maintain this connection. That is, “you guys” sounds like an appeal to the Jewish leaders referenced in the article, the US leaders that support the ADL, or both.

I might be wrong, I don’t know OP or what they truly believe. If there is context I’m missing that changes the message, I will stand corrected.

I never suggested I was a leader, but even plenty of Jews in leadership positions of Jewish organizations do not support the ADL. We can start with Jewish Voice for Peace.

His post was emulating the excuse people use when they are trying to deflect away from something obviously bad. The state of Israel will refuse to say that what Elon did was antisemitic or an actual Nazi salute. They will talk around the subject and say it wasn’t ACTUALLY the Nazi salute, just him being exuberant in the moment. Or they will point out that the salute was around in Roman times and isn’t actually an antisemitic salute even though Hitler used it, just like people will point out that the swastika is an ancient symbol from Hinduism so it also isn’t antisemitic.

He was agreeing with you, basically.

        You’re right, it isn’t!

Zionism has nothing to do with Judaism. In fact, I’m pretty sure it is in direct OPPOSITION to Judaism, if you follow the fundamentals.

For a religion this old, you will find a lot of people with different ideas about the “fundamentals”. There is a lot of Jewish scholars that reject Zionism and in particular in the beginning of the Zionist movement it was strongly opposed by religious scholars. They had to work quite extensively to create a “new understanding” of how to mix Zionism with Judaism, which over the time led to there now being particularly extreme Zionists, who claim to base it off of Judaism.

Help me understand your point, pls. I wasn’t talking about zionism nor judaism. Plain nazism. Which killed millions of jews, equalling antisemitism. Especially nowadays when any statement is lightly attributed to antisemitism, a nazi salute could qualify as?

The salute is just a symbol of much larger antisemitic moves by Elon. It’s not hard to find neo Nazis posting swastikas and the like on X and many Jewish users have indicated that reporting those images goes nowhere despite them being specifically enumerated as banned in the official terms of use. There’s plenty of evidence out there that Elon is in fact a far right racist if not outright Nazi.

White nationalists are just the same as white supremacists. If there are Jewish people who think Christian Nationalism will protect them, they’re forgetting that Nazis were and are very Christian.

Authoritarian leaders turn on their own people and supporters all the time, this has been proven time and again in history. Whatever America is now though, there is still hope in the judiciary and the constitution.

Well they should’ve thought about that before the elections. It’s now unwise to antagonize an all powerful dictator.

Even though his scapegoat isn’t the Jewish people, I don’t think it’s impossible they’d still add you to the list later on.

In what let’s call the Jewish diaspora there is a strong thread of fascism. The fascists currently (and for some time now) are in control of the israeli government. If the israeli people were not in support of such fascism they are doing a poor job of expressing it. Globally fascism among jews is not universal, probably not even a majority though I have no hard data here. Anecdotally among the Jewish people I know there is one rabidly fascist of the kill all the Palestinians ilk, a few who claim not to support genocide but will get loud and in your face at any criticism of it and many who are disgusted by it and will openly say so. Your mileage may vary.

I think it’s fair to say that when people are facing an existential threat they find it hard to criticize that which protects them. People should just be anti-genocide because leaders cannot be trusted all the time. But what are the chances that the Muslim citizens in Arab countries would protest if a genocide happens to their perceived enemies? Sometimes the best defense people have against authoritarianism is empathy, don’t let something happen to someone else that you don’t want happening to you.

Edit downvotes explain yourself? I am just being brigaded by extremists on every post.

Oh, WOW! Glad I asked. Will happily add this to a conversation with a ‘skeptical’ friend.

Honestly, I found some genuinely funny and actually laughed. But I would never share stuff like that in public, if at all, certainly not in a position like Musk, especially not after that salute. Guess he’s testing the waters or normalizing.

Anyways, thanks a lot for the info with screenshot! Once more, reality trumps satire. When asking the question, I thought it might be about some hints here and there requiring interpretation. I did not expect something so blatant.

Oh look, yet another person who thinks that Jews genetically support genocide in Gaza.

Because it’s really fucking obvious from multiple responses in this thread that saying, “I do not support Israel or its genocide and never have” is not good enough. Not when you have the genocide gene.
