Israel trying to pass the hospital bombing off as Palestine doing it is utterly disgusting and guarantees Netanyahu a spot in the deepest pit of Hell for all eternity, obviously, but do not forget that

a) the only reason why Westerners will believe it is because they want to believe it - they are not being brainwashed and this is not some masterful propaganda being weaved around us to turn kind-hearted people into monsters,

b) no Westerner opinions matter at all. In most Western countries there is no real anti-Israel option to vote for even if they did realize that Israel was a giant factory for crimes against humanity, and Westerners protesting against things in general almost never achieves anything (tens of millions protested for BLM in 2020 and not only did the situation not change, it got worse), and

c) the people whose opinions do matter (both the people in the region, and the leaders who aren’t already Zionist compradors) already know that Israel is full of shit and that they just murdered nearly a thousand civilians in a single bomb attack.

It is despair-inducing to think that the genocidal Zionist entity is so brazenly, so smugly getting away with bullshitting this away into a cloud of confusion, as they release their metaphorical squid ink just like they did with the stupid babies story, but the propaganda and the media narrative that they are creating isn’t what matters. It cannot address the fundamental contradictions ripping the country, the region, and the world apart any more than masterfully-applied makeup can fix a stab wound. It can merely obfuscate.

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA daily-ish reports on Israel’s destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

English-language Palestinian Marxist-Leninist twitter account. Alt here.
English-language twitter account that collates news (and has automated posting when the person running it goes to sleep).
Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis.

English-language PalestineResist telegram channel.

Various sources that are covering the Ukraine conflict are also covering the one in Palestine, like Rybar.

The Country of the Week is still Palestine! Feel free to chime in with books, essays, longform articles, even stories and anecdotes or rants.

Here is the map of the Ukraine conflict, courtesy of Wikipedia.

The weekly update isn’t coming because I’m sick and too focussed on the collapse of the Zionist entity.

Resources For Understanding The War

Defense Politics Asia’s youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.

Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don’t want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it’s just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists’ side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Telegram Channels

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

Pro-Russian

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR’s former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR’s forces. Russian language.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.

https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.

https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster’s telegram channel.

https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.

https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.

https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a ‘propaganda tax’, if you don’t believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine

Almost every Western media outlet.

https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.

https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

I’m trying to figure out the proper way to say this but:

Am I wrong for assuming that there are likely mossad/IDF cyberspies on other instances like .world? I’m just trying to make sure that my mental health isn’t deteriorating due to paranoia, but these motherfuckers are hardheaded as shit over there and it’s kinda feeling pointless to try and provide any kind of “opposing perspective”(like the fuckin truth).

There’s almost certainly wrecker and fed ops around but 99% of what you’re seeing is just genuinely how fucking bad liberals are.

I doubt it. Maybe there is a fed or two lurking around on lemmy but most of them are probably here to keep an eye on us. There really aren’t enough people on lemmy as a whole for the zionist state to bother trying to astroturf it. Those are just highly propagandized and gullible libs you are dealing with.

They’re the dregs of reddit, they’re racist suburban trust fund brats who spend most of their time online roleplaying psychotic fantasies

It’s just how propaganda works, there’s no need to use it on such a small part of the internet when they can dominate larger parts from reddit to news etc.

I don’t know about mossad/IDF specifically and would guess that is unlikely, but I’m also not so sure everyone here who saying “no way, lemmy is way too small for feds/ops to care about” are really going off anything more than a hope.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they have a few spooks to send in to steer the narrative a bit here and discredit actual realities there. It’s not a lot of work for them. It is for us, because we’re of course fighting the dominant mainstream narratives. All they have to do is parrot that shit, or say something even worse than what the MSM is saying to shift the window of acceptability (not quite the Overton window, but same idea), putting people talking reality on their back foot. Because the ubiquity and predominance of libs, the feds will have a ton of support, a ready-made base of nodding fools who will upvote them because what they’re saying reproduces and reinforces the libs’ worldviews. It’s a feedback loop, and they’re there to ensure it keeps feeding back in the direction that benefits (again, reproduces/reinforces) the existing power structures.

It’s not like the feds that we know for a fact that are on reddit can’t also moonlight on lemmy a bit, the same way regular users often do. And come on, there are countless documented cases of undercover feds infiltrating the tiniest of innocent orgs, like 5-person book clubs IRL. It’s vastly easier to astroturf online communities than it is to infiltrate actual orgs. I think it’s a tad naive to think feds wouldn’t at the very least dip their toes into lemmy for a bit of astroturfing, especially since that silly reddit blackout. It doesn’t take much in the way of resources for them, but I think there’s obvious reason and benefits to do it, even on just a small scale.

As for feeling burnt out, if you feel like you could use a break, take a break! Don’t sacrifice your own well being for this shit, it’s not worth it. But if and when you do go back to the posting trenches, remember that the goal is never to change the mind of the person you’re arguing with. That is simply not going to happen, in anything but the most absurdly rare cases. But if others are seeing the conversation, lurkers, the people there just up/downvoting, they’re the ones who see your “debates” with the terminally brainwormed and lot of those lurkers really are capable of recognizing the bullshit versus the reasoned and sensical argument, even if it doesn’t immediately click for them (though sometimes it does). It’s not unlike watching a kind of dialectic. My mind has been changed that way a few times, and I know that’s the case for many others. So don’t let it get you too down when you’re inundated with their garbage and their lies. Someone else saw what you had to say and they were affected by it. Seeds do get planted.

I think this essay might be relevant

The dossier/Snopes approach doesn’t work because it attempts to apply facts and reason to people who are not interested in either facts or reason. That’s not a nice thing to say, or even to think, about anyone else, which is why I was reluctant and slow to reach that conclusion. But that conclusion was inevitable.

In trying to combat the P&G slander with nothing more than irrefutable facts proving it false, I was operating under a set of false assumptions. Among these:

      • I assumed that the people who claimed to believe that Procter & Gamble supported the Church of Satan really did believe such a thing.
      • I assumed that they were passing on this rumor in good faith— that they were misinforming others only because they had, themselves, been misinformed.
      • I assumed that they would respect, or care about, or at least be willing to consider, the actual facts of the matter.
      • Because the people spreading this rumor claimed to be horrified/angry about its allegations, I assumed that they would be happy/relieved to learn that these allegations were, indisputably, not true.

All of those assumptions proved to be false. All of them. This was at first bewildering, then disappointing, and then, the more I thought about it, appalling— so appalling that I was reluctant to accept that it could really be the case.

But it is the case. Let’s go through that list again. The following are all true of the people spreading the Procter & Gamble rumor:

      • They didn’t really believe it themselves.
      • They were passing it along with the intent of misinforming others. Deliberately.
      • They did not respect, or care about, the actual facts of the matter, except to the extent that they viewed such facts with hostility.
      • Being told that the Bad Thing they were purportedly upset about wasn’t real only made them more upset. Proof that the 23rd largest corporation in America was not in league with the Devil made them defensive and very, very angry.
