Fewer than one-third of those arrested by Border Patrol during the recent immigration crackdown in Charlotte were classified as criminals, a government document says.
Charlotte has an international airport. That makes everywhere near it part of the border zone!
That hogwash has given Border Patrol jurisdiction over nearly everyone in the country. They have enhanced powers over other law enforcement because they are limited to operating near the border, so declaring everywhere the border makes them incredibly powerful.
I could see that as a reasonable argument for ICE, for customs enforcement. Seems like border patrol should be near a physical border, though. Otherwise, why make them two separate entities? They are largely serving the same function.
I guess it doesn’t really matter though, we all know it’s just an euphemism for brown people patrol at this point.
