    They already did.

A few years ago, Osama Bin Laden’s open letter to the American people was being shared and people had their posts deleted.

It was being shared because the first reason he lists for attacking on 9/11 was America’s support for Israel.

Back in the day this just meant that people would mobilize and flood the platform with pro Palestinian content just to troll.

That’s why quantity is important online. They can’t suppress it all.

It just surprises me that people put more effort trying to get AI to quote Hitler than they do trying to fight for something like this.

Why is there this asymmetry of effort between the political factions.

This is also why governments are pushing so hard for “AI.” AI won’t be used to improve the quality of our lives. It will be used for advertising, propaganda, surveillance and control. Only AI is fast enough to run all the bots and generate the blizzard of BS fast enough to counter the opinions of millions of people online.

What about in the opposite direction. Isn’t AI a tool that can be used to create, analyze and research. Which is why I think it’s pushed very hard for the left to alienate themselves from it. It gives anyone who embraced it a big advantage.

Remember when we were worried that TikTok was going to be used by the CCP to spread Chinese government propaganda?

Good news! It’s STILL going to be used to spread propaganda, it just belongs to another group of billionaire dingbats, now.

Seems like that was always the end goal. Imperialist global power built on colonialism continues to push forward neocolonialism, more at 11.

    RedNote is a good alternative.

Downvoted by those who can’t think for themselves. Go to Reddit if you want neoliberal cultural hegemony.

No, it’s not even like Tiktok at all. The vast majority of the content is in Mandarin and if you aren’t Chinese your not going to know the asinine culture rules and get banned for something you thought was silly, but they take very seriously.

Same, but it’s just because I don’t comment or post as I don’t speak Mandarin, so the majority of the people wouldn’t even know what I am saying. What’s the point you know?

I have found a bunch of really cool recipes, man they love their eggs…

Some people provide translated subtitles and the app does have a built in translator function. I found it’s enough to converse, but definitely niche.

        for non-chinese

or for Chinese that don’t want to be censored?

Most platforms have some kind of moderation. But I’m sure a Chinese platform will be quite selective about a particular set of topics and themes.

So the solution to algorithm being dictated by billionaires or governments with little to no transparency is to move to another one?

Maybe its better to stay by the sidelines instead of constantly rushing to join the next new social media. Perhaps its better to view them more from a position of an observer than a participant when it comes to the meta, tiktok, twitter type social media run by big centralized money or governments backing them.

Westerners would rather drown in capitalist propaganda than listen to anything a diabolical Chinese national might have to say.

Tankies would rather push a Chinese state controlled app over a Fediverse replacement ran by real people.
