“Only extremists are pushing for conflict.”

This is a disastrously ill-informed perspective. There is no historical precedent for an electoral solution to rising fascism. There is no historical precedent for an electoral solution to massive wealth inequality.

Stop scrolling and sit with these facts. Then stop rage-posting and start planning.

OK, I don’t think you’re actually correct. It sounds cool though. It was not only German, Italy, Japan, and Spain that had rising fascism. There was famously a coup planned (The Business Plot) in the US. There were also large movements in France and England too.

This isn’t to say that you shouldn’t prepare. It’s to say do that and vote. Voting takes so little effort that there’s no excuse not to.

What if you have two kids under your watch and work won’t let you take off?

Voting in America is extremely difficult compared to other countries. Just saying “its so easy, just do it” overlooks the plethora of strategies the ruling class uses to disenfranchise voters.

Also, this is all assuming ICE isn’t patrolling every polling station come midterms. At that point, I dont think anyone could honestly say “voting is easy”

Normal answer is absentee voting, but that’s part of the reason MAGA has been going after it so hard.

          https://www.adp.com/spark/articles/2024/10/time-off-to-vote-8-facts-employers-should-know.aspx

28 states require employers to give, at least, some time during work hours to vote by law. Beyond that, many states have mail in voting of some kind, or early voting, or both. Obviously some states don’t give you much for options, but it’s worth a try.
Of course, the fact of the matter is, this may be the last time you have to try and save what’s left of this country from diving into a fascist dictatorship. I’d say make the effort FOR your kids. Don’t make excuses because of them.

      Bidens why we’re here dude.

If instead of insisting Biden be the candidate from 2023-2024, if we could have had a real primary, quite literally ALL of this could have been prevented.

And if they hadn’t put their thumb on the scale for Hillary in 2016, and she hadn’t decided to reach for some imaginary middle razor thin between corporate liberals and fascists, Trump would just be another dumb clown that tried to be a Republican presidential candidate.

I feel that, for a lot of folks, he was the last candidate that promised an actual brighter future to believe in. It’s a shame corporate donors pushed him out of the race, as it left a lot of folks feeling that their voices would never be heard. I think it’s even fair to say that his dismissal by the Democrat party directly led to the voter resentment that helped Trump win the elections.

Absolutely did. A TON of Bernie bros would go on to vote for Trump, and Trump ran on a platform of “establishment bad,” so having his opponent be the MOST establishment option, who just won their primary through interference by the establishment could not have been better. Not to mention that the Hillary campaign and DNC SUPPORTED Trump’s run until he won the primary

Ah, but we must move on from that as well. The important stuff to pay attention to will only begin in 2032. Nothing until then matters.

This is what makes me lose hope in democracy.

Bernie had no chance of winning a general election when he couldn’t even win a primary that’s why Trump wanted to run against him all three times and now there’s people comparing that with ICE occupying a city and murdering American citizens.

What happened in 2016 was legitimately fucked up. Bernie was primaried in many key states and his debate performance was excellent. Media completely neglected to mention him and DNC buried him in favor of their pick.

Yes, because if we weren’t captured by a single-party corporate system we wouldn’t be in this mess. Reactionary fascism arises from the material immiseration of the people. If the Democrats were beholden to improving the lives of citizens rather than clinging to power and corporate interests, we would not be in this mess.

Ok. So you are a cynic for whom no answer is going to be good enough.

Maybe just don’t share any of your perspectives or opinions in the future then, considering the manner of your opinion did direct harm to our ability to stop Trump when we had the chance?
