    Trek came around and bought up every local bike shop in my town, so fuck 'em. I hope they go down.

      In the article they point out that Trek corporate stores have underperformed in those same locations (compared to the independent dealers historical sales… they bought up the dealers and lost that business).

        Because they are creepy as fuck. There is one near me. It’s like an apple store and the employees seem like cult members. Everything they sell is Trek brands.

        It’s radically different from a independent store where you have way more variety of choice and the employees aren’t creepy robots trying to sell you from a corporate script.

      Yep. Trek is pretty shitty and monopolistic. A lot of their bikes aren’t anything special.

      There are so many better brands with better products on the market. Trek just has brand recognition.

        Honestly most brands aren’t special. The only thing the brand makes is the frame. Everything else made by Shimano, SRAM, etc.

        Now the frame and geometry is super important but IMO they’re all just different and you pick one that suits your preferences without charging absolutely insane prices.
