There are really dozens of these websites today. It would be cool to see them join forces on a single URL with all the alternatives, so it could be a real movement and reliable source.

Never let a good grifting opportunity pass you by.

case in point: why is proton and not mullvad the first option if we’re looking at VPNs. It’s not in alphabetical order or even in date of creation.

Proton is bigger than Mullvad, so more people have heard about them and might see them as a good alternative. For the VPN providers it doesn’t really matter since it was only 4 alternatives, but they might add more alternatives in the future.

Funnily enough the same happens to Gdrive alternatives and so on and so forth 🤔

edit: proton drive has only been open source since 2024. Also why are swiss alternatives (aka CIA honeypots) given preponderance gegen better options like filen or nextcloud?

Also, how is proton bigger than mullvad?

Proton is bigger than Mullvad in number of users, servers, employees, revenue. Mullvad is a great VPN but they are a smaller company.

I’m not defending them, just trying to find a reason, except for level of commission paid, for why they would list them in this order.
