Yes, but that’s it. The “books” aren’t real and this guy’s just mentioned by name. Nothing more, which makes the fraction bit all the weirder.
My headcanon is that the author of the holonovel wasn’t as well versed in early 20th century slang as they purported to be, and the phrase is an in-universe anachronism.
I can see that. The 1940’s block was full of what’s now considered nonsense like moxie, cahoots, and “what’s the rumpus?”
Maybe Haircut Lapinski was irrational.
If so, it’s the kind of nerdy writer’s in-joke you’d expect from Futurama.
