You can’t pay this without elaborating.
I want more.
The star wars sequels were very poorly thought out and fans were disappointed and upset. The average person is not very good at analyzing the reasons for something like that, though, so a lot of them bought into the narrative that the Star Wars sequels were ruined by wokeness. That was undeniably part of a wave of reactionary sentiment which swept Trump into office. Whether Star Wars was a lynchpin of it or not, I’m not sure, but it’s plausible.

A key and recurring problem
but why
Poorly funded education, thick currents of anti-intellectualism. Capitalism and racism upstream from that.
but why
Partly a self-reinforcing problem. Ignorant and stupid people don’t value education. Providing less education means more people like that, which can lead to less education, and so on.
Capitalism benefits from a poor underclass to exploit their labor. Racism is a mechanism to keep labor fighting amongst itself. I recently read “Dying of Whiteness” and it was a fascinating, but depressing, look into it.
Racism, or more broadly antagonism towards the out group, can also harm public services like education.
If you have more specific questions I can try to answer, but it’s not my area of expertise. Another “but why” won’t get a response from me, here.
I dunno
- sincerely, an average person
To add to this complaining about Star Wars became a good opportunity to ease into social reactionary rhetoric without starting the conversation at “all media should be crafted to appeal to and elevate white men”. It’s basically just GamerGate tactics repeated. The surface criticism is just a lure to try to convert unhappy young men to overt misogyny.
They hated Vice-Admiral Holdo and Rey so much.
The alliance was so incompetent it made the empire look like good management.
i need to be as high as this guy
