      ‘Insufficient funds’ at a cash machine is the equivalent of getting the card declined message when paying directly on your card. The joke is word play using the slight ambiguity of the insufficient funds message. In the joke the user believes that the machine itself physically doesn’t have enough bank notes, rather than it being their account that doesn’t have enough money.

        Man, I just love it when people explain things in a civilized manner to other people that didn’t get the joke, or just misread something ☺️.

          If the atm responds with “insufficient funds”, so will the card terminal at the store.
