    Why not? In what contexts? Seems a bit ahistorical to claim that universally.

    Prohibition in the US isn’t a good example to draw from. Alcohol was an almost universal drug that could be made easily, and industrial production of it existed. The push for prohibition was predominantly a feminist movement led by women. It was almost immediately undermined by politicians, former liquor producers, and organized crime.

    There are many illegal things or substances that prohibition seems to prevent the distribution of. But again, I don’t think the drug industry in the US is actually prohibited. If anything it’s managed by law enforcement, who have no interest in solving the problems, since that would eliminate their position
