Hey everybody! The post this week likely isn’t going to show up on lemmy.world for a while (see here). So, this thread can be just the rest of us from smaller instances. We can say all the things about those world folks that we always wanted to say, but were too afraid to.
In all seriousness, this is the general discussion thread. Talk about what you have been watching, ask about what you should watch, warn others what not to watch…you get the idea.
As always, remember to be mindful of spoilers. If you want to know more about how to handle spoilers in this community, check the guide here (also linked in the sidebar).
Surprise! A second comment from me this week. There were some discussions in this past week’s Anime Corner weekly ranking thread about what other rankings there are for comparison. So, here are other charts for reference.
- Anime Corner - Full Results - Weekly Winner: Konosuba
- Anime Trending - Full Results - Weekly Winner: Mushoku Tensei
- Reddit Karma - Full Results - Weekly Winner: Mushoku Tensei
Credit to /u/Nooble5 and /u/Abysswatcherbel for making the charts for Anime Trending and reddit karma.
An interesting takeaway from this for me is that Date a Live is in the top 5 for both AC and AT, but doesn’t show up at all in the top 30 for reddit. That is the real big outlier for me anyway.
Love it! Gives a great look into the season so far and what’s worth a look.
Looks like I really need to catch up with Slime-San and Konosuba to try the new season.
New ones that I’ll probably try out:
- Jellyfish
- Whisper Me
- Kaiju 8
- Spice & Wolf
Definite watch:
- Mushoku Tensei
- Delicious in Dungeon
- Yuru Camp
Psst! Hey. You. Yes, you. Did you hear the news about lemmy.world? Rumor has it that lemmy.world users use light themes. That’s right…dark text against a light background…like animals. If I wanted the internet to look like it was printed paper, I would just print out every web page and read it that way.
Anyway…
This past week I have been keeping up with a couple seasonal shows, catching up on a show from Winter, and then started an oldie with the SO. A couple highlights:
- Level 2 Cheat Powers - The show revealed its true colors this week after a painfully generic opening episode. Looking forward to more with this show as the cast builds out.
- Spice and Wolf - Economics: the anime this past week. A lesser show would have had a hard time keeping my interest with a storyline like this, but they have done a good job keeping it interesting and unpredictable.
- Konosuba - We got to see some actual royalty this past week. Of course everything almost instantly goes off the rails. Really enjoying the return of this show.
- Hokkaido Gals - Catching up on episodes from last season. Tbh, it feels like a bit of a slog, but I am almost done with the season. Just need to power through…
- Trigun (1998) - I started watching this show with my wife. I have never watched Trigun before while she watched it way back in the day. So far, it has been way sillier than I had thought it would be. I have been laughing way more than I thought I would. However, it definitely feels like a product of its time though with some dated tropes and jokes.
I’m still mostly working my way through leftover winter season shows.
Villainess*2: Mostly through Villainess 99 and 7th Time Loop. Both really great and very much worth a watch. They’re my cozy before-bed shows right now. I love the humor, positivity, confidence, and essentially zero fan service. Super good. Also that Lvl 99 OP is great.
Grandma & Grandpa Young Again: Yeaaaa… I think one episode was enough. I get the humor and it’s fine, but the repeated incest joke was rough on the very first time, and it seemed like it was going nowhere at all.
Fluffy Paradise: 2-3 episodes in. Cute characters, silly story, fun overpowered MC from a slightly different angle. But I find the MC a little grating, especially since she apparently mostly forgot her previous life and is now actually a young child. There’s a background malice to the world that is an interesting contrast, but I don’t think I’ll stick around to see if it pans out.
Wrong Way to use Healing Magic: 3 episodes in. Silly, fun premise in an otherwise pretty generic isekai. I might watch the rest because I like the MC and Rose and it’s a pretty light watch.
I tried Date A Live s5e01 without watching previous seasons, but there’s no catchup info, so I’m hopelessly lost as to what’s going on. It didn’t seem that interesting anyway, sorry fans of the show…
