In the third year so far of my fortress with 115 population…with only 48 losses so far!

So, when starting the game I had a mayor who was an immediate suspicion, being 270 years old and having grey hair and pale skin. Soon enough, dwarves started being found drained of blood. This dwarf was a legendary weaponsmith, armorer and blacksmith. So, I let him feast a bit while farming him for masterpiece gear. In the end, after equipping my milita with full steel gear, I locked him away and convicted him with 4 murders, 5 witnesses testifying and another 14 unconfirmed murders alone. A small price to pay. However…

After locking him away (the mayor, electable official), I’ve bricked him in a small 1x1 dark square while in a cage completely isolated from the entire world.

I’m having a bit of a problem now where they keep electing this guy, despite being eternally sealed from society under 5 feet thick brick slate walls and not even talking to anyone or doing interviews. Normally, this wouldn’t be a problem, but liasons and other alliances keep wanting to talk to him. How do I get my dwarves to stop electing the ghoul?

Anyways, here’s a tour.

The Eternal Mayor:

Entrance:

1st Level:

2nd Level 1/2:

2nd Level 2/2:

3rd Level [under construction]:

The Boneyard:

Would destroying the wall immediately let the elected ghoul out of the cage? Not sure if anyone knows.

I’m sorry to inform you, your dwarves are Democrats.

No matter how they vote they always end up with a vampire; does putting cages on an atom smasher help?

This happens because Vampires get very high bonuses to their social skills - so high that they pretty much always win elections.

You’ll have to kill the vampire, I think

Yeah; it was really useful for a while at the start. Lots of neutral migrants immediately growing happy from talking to the mayor and like I said he was a legendary everything-smith so I used him for what I could lmfao.

Still the idea of a ignorant citizen-base electing a vampiric ghoul who is especially skilled at supplying weapons and fooling people into voting for them despite eating them. How art imitates life.

Honestly why not just roll with it? If you’ve figured it out but the dwarfs haven’t, you could see where this fella goes with it. Eventually they will presumably witness a feeding and demand justice. Could be !FUN!

Sadly, the five witnesses watching him exsanguinate a passed out dwarf in the tavern demanded justice. Surprisingly, the vampire actually followed the captain of the guard and convinced him to negotiate his sentence…to 2 months.

I bricked him in. That level of charisma is dangerous. Truly a democratic candidate from beyond.

In my last play in CK3 Middle-Earth mod i played Balin and then his son Stalin. Was epic, especially when all the elvish states except Lindon came to me themselves to offer vassalage. Unfortunately mod incompatibility killed the playthrough when i was taking army of 80000 dwarves and around 150000 men, elves and hobbits to Mordor after Sauron assassinated Stalin’s grandson and it became personal

I don’t think you need to kill him. You can assign him to a chain instead of a cage and if the chain is in his office I’m pretty sure he can still do his mayoral duties without killing anyone. If you put a workshop nearby he might be able to still craft stuff for you while serving his sentence, but I’m not 100% sure of that.

You are safe to mine the cage. Atom smashing the filled (deconstructed) cage will probably work. You can link the (constructed) cage to a lever, and pull it to release the creature inside. You can use this and an airlock system to get gear to the vamp without exposing your dorfs, then have him mine his own way to the caverns or something if you want him to die in glorious vampirism-buffed combat. Just make sure he never gets a path back to your fort.

What I’m afraid of is that if I do release him into the caverns; somehow the citizens will elect him still despite never even seeing him or talking to him.

Truly the drawbacks of grand master conversationalist and grand master comedian.
