EDIT3 : You’d think Crichton would be pronounced Kr-ich-ton, but it’s pronounced Kryt-n. Or at least write it Cryton or Criton or something that’s consistent with the rest of the rules of english
Makes sense, languages using the same alphabet often make mistakes in translation, going to an entirely different alphabet and language structure would only amplify that

Crichton is Gaelic, and predates the modern English language
And was it always written with the Latin alphabet?
That I do not know, my knowledge of English gets spotty around the middle English era

Well, seems that when they went form Ogham to Latin, they made some strange choices in transcription.
