A total solar eclipse will plunge parts of Europe into darkness on August 12, 2026, with Spain offering some of the best views. ESA will livestream the spectacle from the Javalambre Observatory, combining telescope feeds, drone footage, and expert commentary. At 20:31 CEST, the observatory will experience 1 minute and 21 seconds of totality, revealing the Sun’s normally hidden outer atmosphere.

Article says the best view will be in Spain, but that’s unintended irony since the sun has already disappeared there due to wildfire smoke :(.

    I’m on Mallorca to watch this, and the sky is mostly clear here, but the eclipse is very close before sunset, and mountains make the number of places to watch limited, while the local authorities are closing a lot of roads.

    I really hope we’ll be able to see it from our balcony.

    I’m in France living east of the big ass mountain in the middle of the country, I’m not sure if we’ll be able to catch it
