The original’s title in Japan translated roughly to “Weekend at Zordon’s” because it used Dead-Action, instead. Disney wanted to change that, and I, for one, and glad someone stepped in and told them that it would break the spirit of the show.

Disney+ doesn’t have much of anything on deck these days, does it? They killed the Star Wars that laid the golden eggs, and now they’ve canceled a bunch of Marvel plans. Is new leadership in the pipeline?

They actually just switched to new leadership at the top. Bob Iger was the long time CEO, replaced with Bob Chapek, back to Iger, and now Josh D’Amaro.

One of Iger’s last projects was Disney+ and they lucked into the pandemic starting right after they launched. Chapek pushed heavily into Disney+, which is arguably what Iger had setup the company to do, but the push seemed to prioritize quantity and not so much quality. When Iger returned that’s when everything slowed down again, although the quality has been picking up.

I think the focus right now is the Disney+/Hulu merger. I suspect Disney figures they can slow down while that happens and they can focus on just a few projects.

Marvel has at least another year/season of Daredevil, but nothing beyond that. Star Wars has Ahsoka season 2 coming along, but nothing beyond that. (They both do have animated projects, but just looking at live action). Disney Animation and Pixar both have almost nothing in the pipeline for Disney+, despite having a few items in the past few years.

D23 is this upcoming weekend so we’ll probably get some announcements, but I think the focus is largely on films at the moment.

According to sources, the reasons for the pass are not so much creative than they are business- (aka budget-) related. Mounting a high-end, live-action superhero series of the caliber of Power Rangers is a major investment,

    Umm…

Strike after the blacksmith has gone bankrupt and mothballed the forge, and the whole shop is filled with feral cats.
