Wait, doesn’t he know the Whitehouse is in Washington DC? He literally tried to overthrow the government in order to stay in that - “filthy, dirty, falling apart, and very unsafe” - town.

    Make. It. Make. Sense.

I wanted those grapes, I tried to get those grapes. When I couldn’t reach them and somebody else got them, they’re gross and I didn’t want them anyway. I’ll still take them if I think I can get away with it and then they’ll be good.

      Make America Sour Grapes Again?

When you put it like that it really reinforces the question:

If Donald Trump had gotten the love and affection he so desperately craves when he was a child, would we all be living through this bullshit today?

When our progeny look back on this chapter of history I think in part it may be seen as a case study on the kind of moral tragedy that can befall an entire civilization when one man lashes out in an attempt to justify his own lack of self acceptance and belonging.

Imagine living your entire life as a series of lopsided power dynamics where you are always sizing up everyone around you because there is nobody in your life you respect enough or that respects you enough to check your behavior.

It is both fascinating and terrifying to watch this play out, and to consider the micro/macro scale implications of this period in time. Hopefully our collective consciousness is impacted by these events as to reinforce the ideal that the moral arc of society cannot and should not be dictated by the whims or misguided ambitions of one man.

Half of America that didn’t get the love and affection they needed would have voted for some other guy who didn’t get the love and attention he needed.

          It’s a systemic issue

Wow well said. It’s really a pitiable state. I wouldn’t wish the DT perspective on anyone, ever. It’s an indictment on us and our whole thing that he got this much pull in the first place. Your last paragraph sums it up.

Some people get caught in their lies year later, I personally had friends who would contradict themselves on a weekly basis, but to do it on this level is truely insane.

I just went to Washington DC for a concert and was pleasantly surprised, seemed like a nice town.

A lot nicer knowing that doofus got arrested there.

I’ve lived and worked in DC for decades. It’s like any other east coast city. Many good parts for tourism, working, colleges, etc. and also a few bad neighborhoods. And even some of those have cleaned up a lot in the past couple decades

That said, perhaps the room where they fingerprint federal criminals could be dirty and falling apart. I wouldn’t know.

Too late for me, but here is another gem from a few hours ago:

Biden and his family steal Millions and Millions of Dollars, including BRIBES from foreign countries, and I’m headed to D.C. to be ARRESTED for protesting a CROOKED ELECTION. UNFAIR VENUE, UNFAIR JUDGE. We are a Nation in Decline. MAGA!!!

Like dude you steal from contractors DIRECTLY among many other things. Lot of apathetic, frustrated, and hateful people with zero sense of self awareness to delude into thinking this guy is actually on their side. It never ceases to be surreal.

The worst part is that there is a tiny kernel of truth in it. The entire system IS corruption itself. It’s just this guy happens to be a few flavors of mentally ill, and overt in his dealings. DT Era will he considered the inflection point for wherever we end up as a country. That’s super pathetic and depressing af.

Also he wasn’t arrested by the his political opponent, Biden has absolutely nothing to do with this process… everything that happens here is a result of trumps actions, which broke specific laws, and the DOJ is doing their fucking job enforcing those laws.

Don’t want to be arrested? don’t do crime, simple as. Listen to your lawyers they’re trying to stop you doing crime

partisan bs aside, it’s always amazed me at how many of his problems were self inflicted, and how little he does to help his own base. he shits on his supporters, leaves them in jail, jerks the GOP around eight ways from sunday, and they all continue to support him, so he probably believes he can navigate a reality where he’s facing 4 sets of ‘oh you’re fucked’ charges.

Im stating the obvious here, but he’s counting on winning, sowing violence, and the grift. With these charges, its inevitable that he will eventually go all in(again and worse) on getting his people riled up, using those people to sway court decisions or worse. It’s a hostage situation more or less at this point. I don’t think he is particularly concerned about getting his story straight, or telling believable lies. Not sure he ever was.
