The first generation even mentions South America, real world references weren’t a thing in later generations either.It make sense when you admit that pokemon is a post-apocalyptic universe

Game. It’s in the Pokemon Mansion on Cinnabar Island. They found Mew in the South American jungle.
Also Major Surge is called an American IIRC and a war he fought in is alos mentioned.There’s an old man in Surge’s gym who says he served with Surge in the war iirc.

Mythical pokemon can’t lay eggs so it makes sense that live birth is the method by which they propogate.
