You can buy a stamp and scan it. Did everyone forget about scanners?

The cross isn’t needed anymore because each stamp has a unique ID printed on it.

I’m not familiar with it. The ID is printed multiple times in U.V. ink. Presumably each stamp is additionally distorted more.
Im asking for a source. I just checked the forever stamps in my desk with a uv light and there is no secret printing.
You can also photoshop the thin line out, or ask an AI to remove it.
