I don’t like these. O’Brien might have held a simple job for a while, but Jesus Christ, the man wasn’t a pathetic spineless cuckold.
Don’t take this as an actual character of O’Brian. He just had the unenviable position of minor character who commonly did the job most readily taken by ai. The other characters in these don’t escape flanderization for the sake of the joke. In this case Jordi also gets double dunked on for not only making out with holodeck maidens, but with O’Brians wife.
Their names were right there.
Cool
I agree a little, I like some of these, but I’m not a fan of the Keiko affair ones. They just don’t hit for me.
There’s one story arc that implies this isn’t the canon O’Brien, it’s the O’Brien who, throughout the multiverse, happens to be the most depressed and pathetic.
I don’t know that you should worry about a fictional version of an already fictional character.
No one is saying this is Star Trek canon.
I think their point is that it isn’t funny. And I agree. No air exited my nostrils in the reading of this. I just felt a mix of disgust and sadness.
Humor is subjective. I thought it was funny.
Subjective and personal. I didn’t mean to imply it’s universally unfunny, though upon rereading my comment that thought definitely didn’t show.
I hate when they hit a little close to home…
Ouch. Also: Riker could do better.
Riker just does everyone.
Miles isn’t jealous of Riker, he’s jealous of Keiko.
Better, worse, he’s just there to pour his charisma concentrate.
Riker could do me but no, it’s all restraining order this, and “you’re not my gardener” that.
The Riker thing is obvious, but are we going to gloss over how Geordi’s holodeck program (that he’ll be making out with) looks like Keiko?
I mean thats soul of the joke.
He has a history.
